Assam: Farm products can now be sold directly to housing complexes
The North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) of the Union DoNER ministry on Wednesday launched a farm linkage programme in select wards here to bring fresh farm products directly to housing societies. This will serve the twin purpose of eliminating trips to markets for residents and thereby minimise the spread of infection and at the same time ensure steady business for farmers who are not able to sell their products because of Covid curbs.
The programme was flagged off by state agriculture minister Atul Bora. While farmers are struggling to sell their produce due to early closure of markets for the ongoing lockdown, this move will enable farmers to get competitive remuneration for their products and consumers can get fresh products at a reasonable price in the safety of their housing campus.

Bamboo culture will be improved in Tripura
The Tripura government has started construction of its second bamboo depot at Chakmaghat at Khowai in West Tripura to promote cultivation and popularize the use of bamboo.
The first depot is located at Kumarghat in Unokoti, North Tripura.
Tripura has 21 varieties of bamboo because of soil texture and climate. Despite growing demand for bamboo for household items, handicraft and infrastructure development work, production and marketing of bamboo has not been adequate over the past decade.
