PMMVY is a conditional cash transfer scheme introduced in 2016. It works under the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It provides partial wage compensation to women for wage loss during child birth and child care and to provide conditions for safe delivery and good nutrition and feeding practice.
A cash incentive of Rs. 5000/- is provided directly to bank/post office account for first living child subject to fulfilling specific conditions like early registration of pregnancy, ante natal check up and registration of the birth of the child and completion of first cycle of vaccination for the first living child of the family. Female who are in regular employment with the central government or the state government of PSUs or those who are in receipt of similar benefits under any law for the time being in force are excluded from the purview of the scheme.
