DMPQ-Decline in Parliamentary standards is a harsh reality. Comment.

Recently the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the constitution of India was celebrated with Joint session of both the house of the parliament . But the parliamentary standards are on decline which are due to following reasons:

Decline in the number of sittings of legislature due to persistent disruption.

Decline in the quality of debate.

Frequent disruptions by the opposition party.

Criminalisation of Member of parliament. Number of MPs with criminal records are on higher side. 233 MPs have declared criminal cases against themselves.

Increasing use of money and muscle power.

Lack of internal party democracy in political parties.

EVM tampering issue, simultaneous elections

Erosion of Public trust over the functioning of Parliamentary institutions.

Hence, there is a need to enhance the quality of debates and overall parliamentary standards to strengthen the public institutes.
