Health department’s NY gift to Guwahati: State’s first super-speciality govt hospital

The Assam health department on Friday unveiled the state’s first super-speciality hospital in the government sector at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) premises.

The hospital has been built where the Covid treatment wards were set up by the government when the number of positive cases were high. However, with state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma saying that the state is “almost out of Covid”, the unit was shut down and transformed into the super speciality hospital.

New Tripura airport terminal to be run on solar power

The newly built terminal building of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala, which is expected to be operational in the next three months, will be run on solar power.
As part of green development initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is installing a two-megawatt solar power plant for the energy requirement of the terminal building.

According to reports, Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved 2MW power for AAI.

The new terminal building has come up at MBB airport across 0.03 sqkm with all modern facilities at a cost of Rs 438 crore. The Agartala airport — the second biggest in the northeast — has 20 check-in counters, four passenger boarding bridges, conveyor belts and other modern facilities and amenities. The terminal has been designed to handle 1,000 domestic and 200 international passengers during peak hours each day, making the annual handling capacity of three million passengers.

World Braille Day Is Celebrated On 4 January

Every year, the United Nations and several other international organizations celebrate World Braille Day on January 4. The purpose of celebrating Braille day is to make people realize the importance of Braille as a means of communication to realize the human rights of the blind.

January 4th is a celebration, because this day is the birthday of Louis Braille, the creator of the writing system. He was born in France in 1809. The first World Braille Day was celebrated in 2019.

Braille is a letter and number symbol represented by six dots. Dots represent letters and numbers as well as math, music, and science symbols. Braille was invented in France in the 19th century by Louis Braille.

India adopted a unified braille code in 1951 to represent different languages. India established its first Braille factory in Dehradun, the Central Braille Factory. In 1954, a central Braille printing press was established to produce Braille electrical appliances.

Iran plans to enrich uranium to up to 20% purity

UN nuclear watchdog – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has revealed that Iran plans to enrich uranium to up to 20 percent purity at Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant. 9660654677

It would take Iran’s nuclear enrichment program to pre-2015 levels, when it entered the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with the P51 countries.

Iran was prohibited enrichment at the Fordo facility until 2031.

It also committed to converting the underground facility into a nuclear, physics and technology centre.

E-Committee of Supreme Court Gets Award

E-committee of the Supreme Court (SC) of India conferred with the Platinum Award for Excellence in Digital Governance by the President of India.

The E-Court project conceived and implemented by the E-committee, the Supreme Court of India, the Department of Justice and the NIC (National Information Center) is a Mission Model Project of the Indian Government.

Citizens can access the status of the case and the court order on the grounds of litigation anytime and anywhere through the e-court service website, mobile application, SMS and email services of the 3293 court building.

People can also get 24×7 details of more than 130 million cases, court orders and judgments for free.

National Metrology Conclave to Be Held

The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) in New Delhi is organizing the National Metrology Conference 2020.

The theme of the conclave is “Metrology for the Inclusive Growth of the Nation”.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate the National Atomic Timescale on the occasion of the National Metrology Conclave.

The National Atomic Time scale generates Indian Standard Time (IST) with an accuracy of 2.8 nanoseconds.

ACROSS by the Ministry of Earth Sciences

ACROSS stands for Atmospheric and Climate Research-Modelling Observing Systems and Services. The ACROSS scheme applies to the atmospheric science program of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).

It covers different aspects of weather and climate services, including warnings for cyclones, storm surges, heatwaves, thunderstorms, etc.

The ACROSS scheme consists of 9 sub-programs, which are multidisciplinary and multi-institutional in nature and will be implemented in an integrated manner.
