Assam improved in MMR
The number of maternal death cases in 2022-23 (May-February) was 448 against 680 in the corresponding period of 2021-22, showing a decline of 232 deaths. The number of child death cases in 2022-23 (May-February) has been reported as 5,805, while the corresponding figure was 6,721 in 2021-22 (May-February), a decline of 916 deaths or 13.6%.
Assam has seen a steep (34% ) decline in maternal deaths compared to last year, while child deaths in the state have gone down by 13%, theAssam National Health Mission(NHM) said.
According to the Registrar General of India’s ‘Special Bulletin on Maternal Mortality’ for the period 2018 to 2020 released last year, Assam recorded 195 deaths per lakh live births, though it was an improvement from the previous figure of 215 in the period 2016 to 2018. Nationally, there has been a significant decline in theMMRfrom 130 in 2014-16 to 97 per lakh live births in 2018-20. In 2005, Assam’s MMR was 480 per one lakh live births.

Centre allocates 145 crore to Nagaland for Unity Mall in Dimapur
The Central government allocated 145 crore to Nagaland for the construction of a Unity Mall in Dimapur, aimed at promoting and showcasing the states One District One Product (ODOP) offerings, the ministry of commerce & said.
The allocation is part of the Union Budget 2023-24, which has earmarked 5,000 crore for the establishment of Unity Malls across the country.
The announcement was made during an ODOP Sampark event organized by the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in collaboration with Invest India and the Department of Industries and Commerce, Nagaland. The event aimed to raise awareness about the ODOP and PM Gati Shakti initiatives, focusing on promoting local industries and improving Logistics.
The DPIIT Invest officials highlighted the initiatives undertaken under the ODOP program to empower Indian products, including design sensitization workshops, ODOP GeM Bazaar on the Government e-Marketplace, and ODOP exhibitions.
Construction of world’s largest Ramayan Temple to be complete by 2025 in Bihar
The construction of the three-storeyed Viraat Ramayan temple will be completed by the end of 2025 at an estimated cost of 500 crore. The temple will be taller than the 12th century Angkor Wat temple complex at Cambodia. The temple will be constructed in 3.76 lakh sq. ft. land in the Kaithwalia-Bahuara villages under the Kalyanur block on Kesaria-Chakia road in East Champaran district, about 120 km from the State capital, Patna.
The temple will have 12 domes, the highest of which will be 270 ft tall, and 22 sanctum sanctorum for different deities. The temple will be 2,800 ft in length, 1,400 ft in width and 405 ft in height. The complex will have marriage halls and guest houses too.
Amazon intends to invest USD 15 billion more in India: CEO Andy Jassy
E-Commerce giant Amazon plans to invest USD 15 billion more in India, taking its total in the country to USD 26 billion, a top official of the company has said.
Amazon is one of the biggest investors in India. We have invested USD 11 billion till date and intend to invest another USD 15 billion, which will bring the total to USD 26 billion. So we are very much looking forward to future of partnering, Jassy said.

The Artemis accord outlines the principles for cooperation in space exploration and the use of the moon, mars, comets, and asteroids for peaceful purposes.
These principles are non-binding multilateral arrangements between the US government and other governments that wish to participate in NASAs Artemis programme

By studying the Moon, scientists hope to gain valuable insights and make discoveries that can contribute to advancements in various fields, including technology, medicine, and a better understanding of the workings of the entire universe.
