New Department of Faith and Culture in Assam
The Assam Cabinet has introduced the creation of an independent department to guard and retain the “faith, lifestyle and traditions of tribes and indigenous communities” of the state.

Satyadev Narayan Arya takes oath as 19th Tripura governor
The Chief Justice of Tripura high court, Akil Kureshi administered the oath of office and secrecy to 84-year-old Satyadev Narayan Arya as 19th governor of Tripura on Wednesday at Darbar Hall of historical Puspabanta palace.
Chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma as well as senior ministers of the state cabinet, the speaker and top officials of the administration attended the ceremony. While introducing the stakeholders, the governor sought cooperation from everyone concerned to continue the development of Tripura.
Satyadev Narayan Arya has been transferred from Haryana and replaced Ramesh Bais who has taken oath as governor of Jharkhand at the same time. Arya was a leader of BJP and former minister of mines and geology of Bihar.
He is an eight-time winning Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Rajgir constituency. He is also a postgraduate in arts and a law graduate from Patna University.

World UFO Day – 2nd July
The World UFO Day (WUD) is held on July 2 each year globally. It is a day committed to the existence of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) by the World UFO Day Organization (WUFODO). WUD objectives to raise cognizance about UFOs’ existence and encourage human beings to think about the opportunity of us now not being alone in the Universe.
Initially, the day used to be discovered on June 24. Later, WUFODO set up on July two to commemorate the day.

Provisional Coal Statistics 2020-21 have been released by the Union Minister.
About Provisional Coal Statistics 2020-21:
♦ The Ministry of Coal has issued the statistical publication.
♦ It includes preliminary data on the performance of the Coal and Lignite sector in the last fiscal year 2020-21.
♦ It provides valuable and comprehensive ready-made data references for all relevant stakeholders, policy planners, researchers, national and international institutions, and individuals.
♦ The data is in the public domain and can be downloaded from the Coal Controller’s Organisation (CCO) and the Ministry of Coal’s official websites.
♦ It contains pre-audited data, and the final data for 2020-21 will be published in India’s Coal Directory 2020-21.
Saral Sanchar Portal – DoT
The Saral Sanchar Portal has been expanded by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
About Saral Sanchar Portal:
♦ ‘SARAL SANCHAR’ (Simplified Application For Registration and Licenses) is a web-based portal for issuing various licences and registration certificates.
♦ It is part of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India’s various digital initiatives.
♦ The portal ensures greater transparency and efficiency in the issuance of licences and registration certificates.
♦ Applicants can apply online by filling out the prescribed application form and uploading the documents and application form with a digital signature.
♦ The portal assumes that applicants will receive prompts and alerts at all stages of application submission so that all necessary requirements can be met before the application is submitted.
♦ Applications for Access Services, Internet Services, and other licences are being accepted via this portal.
Mobile Integrated Oxygen Concentrator – OxyJani
Indian researchers designed a sturdy, mobile integrated oxygen concentrator named “OxyJani”.
The team behind OxyJani: Researchers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Advanced Scientific Research Center, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India
About OxyJani:
♦ OxyJani is based on the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology principles.
♦ The researchers switched from lithium zeolite (LiX), which is commonly used in oxygen generators, to sodium zeolite, which does not generate toxic solid waste and can be manufactured in India.
First Indian Female Swimmer to qualify Tokyo 2020 Olympics
Maana Patel has grown to be the first girl and solely the 3rd swimmer from India to qualify Tokyo Olympics 2021 ticket. Maana Patel joins Srihari Nataraj and Sajan Prakash to have qualified for the Olympics. She is a 21-year-old backstroke swimmer from Ahmedabad who has won gold medals in the 50-metre backstroke and 200-metre backstroke at National Games. She also gained gold in the 100-metre backstroke at the sixtieth National School Games (2015) and broke the national record in backstroke. She was selected for Olympic Gold Quest in 2015, making it the first time a swimmer was roped in. In 2018, she secured three gold medals at the 72nd Senior National Aquatic Championships.
This event will begin from 23rd July to 8th August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. Originally it was scheduled from 24 July to 9 August 2020. But it was postponed and rescheduled for the first time amid the covid-19 pandemic. 2020 Games will be the second time Japan has hosted the Summer Olympic Games—the first being in Tokyo in 1964. Tokyo has come to be the first city in Asia to host Summer Games twice.
Mariyappan Thangavelu – Flag Bearer in Tokoyo Para Olympics
op para high-jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu was the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent in the Tokyo Paralympics, which starts on August 24.
